This week we worked on deleting sounds. We took each students name and deleted the first letter. Then we said their name without it. They all found this to be very funny! We also did word families so that the kids could see that when you delete a letter it can still make a word such as "sit". When 's' is removed 'it' is left.
We continued our work with different word families and this past weeks was -og.
Each day we used a tree map to help us with our writing. They will continue to use this same tree map when they go to first grade. Some of the things we wrote about were plants, rain, clouds and Spring.
When we wrote about clouds we first read a book called It Looks Like Spilt Milk. This book showed us that clouds have different shapes and can sometimes look like different objects in the air. We went outside to see if we could see any objects and some kids were successful!
In math we focused on what takes more time, less time, reading a calendar and sequencing events.
This past week and this week we will be learning all about plants. We recently learned about the parts and what they need to live. This week we are learning the difference between a young plant and a parent plant.
A few reminders:
Please make sure and return all Boosterthon pledge money as soon as possible. Also, the Spring Book Fair is open all week so stop by and grab some great books to read!
This week The Cat's Meow is Jack. Check out some of his favorite things!
We had some old Kindergartners come back and read to us! Thanks so much you two! We really enjoyed it!
Some guided writing during guided reading on the magic table!
We made a full flower with our bodies! We had each part! The roots, stem, leaves, flower center and petals!
We went outside to find all the parts separately!
Time to look at the clouds and see if we see anything...
