Language Arts

Poetry:  white, Five fat turkeys 

Word Work: my, white

  

Handwriting:  t, a, d, g

Phonics:  

We used beginning sounds and pictures to match them up with their partner.

Writing Block:   

I can write about small moments using an anchor chart.

We used our circle maps that students brought from home and they practice choosing a small moment to write about. We also made a tree map of Turkeys can, have, are. Then they created their turkey and wrote their sentence.

Reading Block :

I can make a prediction and retell a story.

I asked the students to infer what the old lady may swallow and make a list. Then we read

There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie.  We then used the retell cards to retell the story.  Then we completed a double bubble map comparing There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Bat and There Was an Old Lady Who Swallowed a Pie.

Math

As a class we created an AB pattern that is 12 cubes long. Then we broke the train apart by what repeats. For example a red blue pattern, the red and blue would repeat. We also did an interactive powerpoint where the students finished each pattern.  We read the story Read Red Leaf Yellow Leaf and completed the patterning worksheet that went with the story.

Science

I can use positional words to describe where an object is.

Vocabulary

On Tuesday we used our stuffed animals and they had to place the animal where I told them using a positional word.  We also used a turkey and placed their turkey somewhere on the farm and wrote a matching sentence. Then we did a listening activity.  I would give instructions and they would glue the object based on the positional word I used on their scarecrow.
