Each week we have "I can..." statements.  These are our objectives for each subject.  Below are the "I can..." statements from last week.

Reading: I can identify classroom rules and procedures.

Writing: I can recognize and write my first name.

Math: I can explore  different manipulatives.

Science: I can record observations in a science journal, identify science safety, and explore how scientists investigate.

Happy Birthday Seth!  Seth turned 6 and picked out a blue crazy straw!

We made an anchor chart of what we think Science is.  We also talked about Science safety and tools that we will be using this year.

After reading David Goes to School we came up with our classroom rules.  Then we all signed the contract taking full responsibility for the rules.

I asked them what Math was and these are the things they came up with.  They had a lot of prior knowledge!  I was very impressed!

After practicing Math Workshop all week these are the things we decided it should look like and sound like.

We also read for enjoyment!  They really enjoyed this alphabet book!  It is very silly and one of my favorites!

Another one of my favorite books is Press Here.  The kids think this book has magic!  They kept asking all week if we could read it again and again!

September 1st: No School!

September 2nd: Students walk down to the class without parents.
