I missed my little ones over the break!!  I was so excited to see them all on Monday!  We did a lot of great things this week!

Literacy
  • Word wall words: Little Elm, Frisco, play, of
  • Poems: Cheer for the Year!, Five Little Snowmen
  • Word family -at
  • This week We read 2 different versions of the book Goldilocks and the Three Bears
    • each day we would talk about one aspect of the texts such as the characters, the setting and the events that happened in the story
    • On Friday we read Somebody and the Three Blair's and all acted out the story.  They loved this!!
    • After each day we went back and wrote in our journals.  We are all trying really hard to write more then one sentence!  They are all doing so well!
  • started our word families this week and it was -at.  Each week we will do a different word family.
    • we came up with different words that belong to that family (hat, cat, sat, fat, that, rat)
Math
  •  we focused on 3D shapes and what their names were
  • did a 3D scavenger hunt around the classroom to see what we could find
    • they all noticed that their boxes were in the shape of a rectangular prism
Science
  • The topic this week was melting ice
  • We read the book The Snowy Day and talked about why the characters snow in his pocket would melt
  • we did an experiment to see which ice cube would melt first
    • the one in water
    • the one with salt on it
    • the one wrapped in foil
  • During our experiment the ice cube in the water melted the fastest and we talked about why the other elements didn't melt as fast.
