This weeks The Cat's Meow is Austin!!
Word Wall Words: you, three, black
Poems: Black, The Itsy Bitsy Spider
In language we talked about what good readers do and made an anchor chart to hang up by our guided reading table. Some things we listed were:
Good Readers
- look at the pictures
- sound out words we don't know
- look for blends
- reread
- quiet voice
- sit on bottom
- hold the book correctly
We did some fun spider activities this week! We made a book page that said,"If I were a spider, I would____." We also made a book page that said, "The Itsy Bitsy Spider crawled____." They had a lot of fun with this one!
We learned about all the parts on the spider and got to make our own! Mrs. Bell even brought a real spider to our classroom in a plastic baggie so we could see the parts close up. Hopefully on Monday we will get to see Mrs. Williams (a first grade teachers) pet tarantula named Harry. I on the other hand will not be involved with that. :)
We have been working on more difficult patterns and talking about all the different places in the world that have them.
Don't forget Sight Word Baggies on Monday!
