Krishna celebrated his birthday this week!

We matched pictures to their ending sound.
Writing Block:
I can identify customs and holidays of other cultures.
We read Merry Christmas Mom and Dad and made a circle map of different Christmas traditions in each others families. Then they created their own Christmas tree with lights. On Tuesday we read My First Kwanzaa and created a Kinara. On Wednesday we watched a video on Hanukkah and then created a Menora by using tear art. On Thursday we read The Legend of the Poinsettia and made poinsettias with tissue paper. On Friday we read My First Chinese New Year and then created our own Chinese lanterns.
Reading Block :
I can ask questions before, during and after reading.
We talked about why is important for readers to ask questions. Good readers ask questions before, during and after reading. We read How Santa Lost His Ho! Ho! Ho! and asked questions before, during and after throughout the week.
Math:
I can sort two and three D shapes.
I can tell how I sorted shapes.
Vocabulary:
circle, triangle, oval, rectangle, rhombus, square, 2D geometric shapes
We created a shape tree map. We also added words that describe the shapes.
Science:
I understand Reindeer live in the Arctic regions.
I can name the parts of a reindeer.
Vocabulary:
hoof-the foot of a reindeer
head- the front or top part of the body
legs- the limb of an animal
antler- bone growing from the head
We played the Reindeer Dice Game in pairs. They rolled the dice and colored in the appropriate body part. We also created a reindeer out of construction paper using different shapes.
