During Reading this past week we focused on questioning. Good readers ask questions before, during and after reading. We did this with different gingerbread stories each day. Her are a couple we read. We then made a chart with all of our questions.
We learned that characters portray feelings in stories just like we have feelings everyday. We then made a book page of how we would feel if we were the gingerbread man. Sofia said that if she were the gingerbread man she would feel scared. Her picture illustrates a time in the story when the gingerbread man was scared on top of the fox's back.
After reading the stories we also made a tree map to compare the different stories characters, settings and events. We talked about what was the same in these stories and what was different. The three stories we compared were: The Gingerbread Boy, The Gingerbread Girl and The Gingerbread Pirates.

In phonics last week we had to find another gingerbread card that rhymed with our own. By the end of the week they were pro's and they made a gingerbread rhyming book without any help!

In math we got to have some fun by making 2D shapes out of pretzels and marshmallows. Of course we ate them after!

During science we did an experiment to see what would happen if the gingerbread man didn't jump on the fox back. We discovered that he would dissolve.
We ended our week with a fun gingerbread hunt. He came to our class and told us to go and find him. He said he loves hide and seek! Everywhere we went, we were too late. He just left us clues as to where to go next.
Another clue.
And another.
Where is he???
He was too fast but he left us a treat in our room! A gingerbread cookie!
Yum!!!
We also made some good looking gingerbread men made out of candy and chocolate pudding!
Krishna is The Cat's Meow! Look at all of his favorite things!
