This year we our building our reading stamina.  We are trying to reach our goal of 20 minutes by the end of the year.  We are currently reading for 3 minutes!  Way to go!

This week we talk about how good readers us their schema before and during reading.  Wh talked about where our schema comes from.

After learning about schema, on Thursday we used our schema to help us make predictions as to what was in my bag.  Here were some of our guesses.

Then we talked about what a prediction was.  On Friday I read them a recipe and they had to make predictions as to what it was for.  The ingredients were:

water

cinnamon

sugar

20 apples

They guessed apple pie, apple cake and finally applesauce.  Thats when I reviled that we were making applesauce and they were so excited!

We made Our Writing Process anchor chart and talked about the steps we take to make our writing pieces the best they can be.
