We added a new connection to our Making Connections anchor chart.  We made text-to-text connections this week.

Any connections we made this week were written down and added to our text-to-text chain.  We will start doing this for text-to-self connections as well.

We made text-to-text connections after reading The Three Little Gators and Three Little Cajun Pigs.  The visual of making a chain and connecting the two books really helped us understand text-to-text connections.

For writing we talked about small moments and how authors focus in on a small moment and add specific details to make their stories more interesting.

Some examples of a pumpkin story (big topic)

We chose the school pumpkin story topic and then zoomed in to add small moments such as, I learned about sight words, and I am moving my clip up.  We are being more specific instead of just saying, I go to school.

We read the story, The Relatives Came and then picked out some seed moments within the story and talked about how that detail made the story much better.

In library we got to play a fun spider game!  We would roll a dice and then add that many spider rings to our fingers.  Whoever got rings on all fingers first, won the game!

How many ways can we show the number 5?
