Enjoy practicing the Yellow song!
Happy college week! Sophia represented Ms. K's school, the University of North Texas! Go Mean Green! Go Eagles!
We had such a fantastic week learning all about apples! Here is a look at our week.
Word Wall Words: yellow, me
Poem: Yellow song
Handwriting: B, R, N
We continue to practice having a character, setting, and event in our writing pieces. This week we really focused on imagining the event. We would close our eyes and actually see it happening before we would put anything on paper. They did a great job! We are also trying to write about different things instead of the same thing every day.
We read Arnold's Apple Tree and recreated what the apple tree looks like in different seasons. They got to paint and had such a good time! We also watched a video that told us the story of Johnny Appleseed. Then we got to turn ourselves into him!
All week long during Readers Workshop we read apple books. We learned what a text-to-self connections was and as we read the stories we listened to see if we made any connections. A text-to-self connection is when you read a story and there is a part that reminds you of an experience you have had in real life. They did such a great job! We will soon talk about text-to-text connections and text-to-world connections.
Take a look at our smilebox above to see other math and science activities we did this week!
Don't Forget:
Please send money and the permission slip for the Pumpkin Patch if you haven't already done so. Remember that The Cat's Meow posters are due by October 4th. Make sure and send your child's Sight Word Baggie on Monday for two new words.
