Word Wall Words: the, green
Poem of the Week: Green Song
Handwriting: M, H, K, L, U
This week for writing we made a tree map of different body parts of a character. Each day we added a new part. We talked about different types of hair, body, arms, hands and legs. The kids found this to be fun and a time to be creative. They realized that not all of our characters have to look the same. I now have it hanging in our room so they can refer to it as an anchor chart throughout the year.
In reading we focused on the story of The Apple Pie Tree. On Monday we did a picture walk and made predictions as to what the story might be about. We know that good readers do this! On Tuesday we read the story to see if our predictions were right. On Wednesday we used retell cards to retell the story and put the events in order. On Thursday we made our apples and got to choose what way we like our apples best. Some chose an apple pie just like in the story.
Take a look at our smilebox above to see the fun things we did in math and science this week!
Don't forget:
- Send Sight Word Baggies on Monday to add two new words.
- Fall pictures are October 4th so please return your money if you are interested in purchasing any.
- The Cat's Meow poster is due October 4th which is this Thursday.
- Next Monday, October 8th, is Parent/Teacher conference day. Be on the lookout for a reminder of your time coming home this week in your child's blue folder.
